HDY partner joins exclusive Fintech discussion panel during StartupWeek Sydney

HDY Partner Jon Ireland will join an exclusive panel of speakers at a special StartupWeek Sydney event set to explore the vital role of Government and regulators in supporting the expansion of Fintech in Australia.

Moderated by Kim Heras, founder of Sydney Fintech Startup Meetup, the panel will discuss  the obstacles facing Fintech entrepreneurs and what must be done to ensure the future viability and growth of this increasingly important sector.

As technological advances continue to shape and disrupt the financial services industry, the future regulation of financial technology (Fintech) will be critical at a time of rapid change.

The panel discussion with be held on Tuesday 27 October at Stone and Chalk, 2/50 Bridge Street, Sydney, from 6pm to 8pm.

Jon will join fellow panellists Chris Gilbert, Co-founder of Equitise and Director of the Crowd Funding Institute of Australia; Mark Adams, leader of ASIC's Strategic Intelligence team; Johanna Pitman, Committee for Sydney Deputy CEO and its Head of Operations; and Ed Husic, Shadow Parliamentary Secretary Assisting with Digital Innovation and Startups.

StartupWeek Australia is not-for-profit - supported by the City of Sydney, NSW Government Department of Industry, Knowledge Hubs and Fairfax Media - focused on building the national start-up community in Australia.

More than 5,000 people are expected to attend events associated with StartupWeek Sydney which began on Friday 23 October.
