HDY bolsters funds management practice

Henry Davis York (HDY), a leading Australian law firm, has appointed corporate and financial services law specialist, Jon Ireland, to its partnership effective 3 March 2014. Jon has been promoted from Senior Associate.
A trusted adviser to the firm’s wealth management clients, Jon is well respected amongst his peers for his work in corporate and financial services law. He has developed a practice which focuses on funds management, specialist M&A and investment distribution regulatory work.
HDY's managing partner, Sharon Cook has endorsed the promotion. "Jon has played a pivotal role in the growth of our wealth management practice and I look forward to his continued contribution, as we progress with the expansion of our funds management practice."
Jon has more than 14 years’ experience, in-house and in private practice and has been recognised as an ‘associate to watch’ in investment funds by Chambers Asia Pacific for the last three years.
Jon joined HDY in 2009 after spending a number of years at Challenger, providing specialist legal advice to businesses covering financial planning, investment platforms, internal managed funds and boutique funds management. Prior to this Jon worked at a global law firm focusing on corporate transactions and technical financial services advisory matters.
This promotion takes the number of partners to 50, supported by more than 350 staff.
