Our property team supports clients through all the key issues in complex property matters, with a focus on commerciality and timely practical solutions. We advise clients on all real estate related matters, including major projects, development, acquisitions and divestments, property portfolio management and leasing.

We have a strong reputation for partnering with financial services and government sector clients, with a particular focus on transport. We also have a growing presence in the university sector, working for clients such as Macquarie University, Australian National University, Wollongong University and Australian Catholic University.

Our Real Estate Experience

Eureka Hotel portfolio sale

We represented Eureka in the sale of five hotels across Australia. Our role included undertaking a transaction risk assessment which formed the basis of a presentation to Eureka's board of directors, explaining the transaction risks and providing commercial solutions on each of the risks identified.

Goodman Oakdale Development

We advised Goodman in connection with the development of the Oakdale industrial precinct in Western Sydney, offering next generation industrial facilities and connectivity to Sydney's major road network. The industrial estate has secured commitments from DHL, Iron Mountain and Petbarn. Our role has included assisting Goodman with the sale of sites to Toyota, Sigma, Nolans and Costco.

SUEZ portfolio sale and leaseback

We advised SUEZ on its sale and leaseback of a portfolio of industrial properties valued at approximately $66m. As the properties are used for waste management purposes, there were detailed negotiations regarding environmental liabilities and warranties.
 
We also assisted our client in obtaining Foreign Investment Review Board approval to the sale and leaseback arrangements.

UrbanGrowthNSW - Riverstone

We are advising UrbanGrowth NSW on the Riverstone Scheduled Lands project, a 3,300 lot paper subdivision in NSW which is the subject of a subdivision order under the Schedule Lands provisions of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. If UrbanGrowth is successful in achieving the re-subdivision of the land it will be the first successful development of a paper subdivision in Australia. We assisted in the preparation of the development plan and voluntary contributions agreement, and are now advising on the implementation of the project.

Sydney Trains

Advising Sydney Trains on its involvement in the development of the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal which will ultimately connect Australia's largest intermodal freight precinct to the Southern Sydney Freight Line. This has included advising on a range of complex legal issues and transaction documentation, including a complicated land ownership structure, complex trust arrangements, a tripartite agreement with a private landfill owner and the proposed rail line operator, Crown land issues, numerous easements and rail corridor access arrangements.

Australian National University

We are currently advising ANU on a large number of Agreements for Lease and Leases in connection with the redevelopment of ANU's Union Court and University Avenue precinct. These include preparing a suite of precedent documentation and drafting and negotiating transaction specific documentation for a Pop-Up Village, re-leasing the redeveloped Union Court, and a number of complex lease transactions including a Health and Wellness Building, an Integrated Gym and Pool Facility, and an underground car park.
