Congratulations to Henry Davis York's Maria Panos, who has won Senior Associate of the Year at the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards 2017.
The Women in Law Awards, a black tie gala in Melbourne on Friday 20 October, celebrate the leading women in law, and the achievements of women, from the profession’s most senior ranks to its rising stars.
The awards not only celebrate outstanding women in their own light, but also that they have also overcome significant gender-based barriers on the road to success.
Maria has worked for various government clients in a range of civil claims, inquests and inquiries.
The award recognises her outstanding contributions to the Lindt Café Siege Inquest, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and the Special Commission of Inquiry into matters relating to the investigation of certain child sexual abuse allegations in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
Maria leads a busy practice and relies on a group of talented graduates and junior lawyers to work with her to achieve excellent outcomes for their clients.
"I have a deep respect for the work done by those in public service and am fortunate to participate in this aspect of the administration of justice", Maria said.
Michael Sullivan, Partner, at Henry Davis York said he was proud of Maria's award as it recognises her excellent legal skills and the professional and sensitive manner in which she acts for clients in matters of significant importance to those involved and the community generally.
