Marie is an expert in construction and infrastructure projects and provides contentious and non-contentious advice to government agencies, principals and contractors.

Marie's experience includes the documentation and review of numerous negotiated and precedent contracts including project specific, design and construct and construct only contracts and various forms of supply and consultancy agreements. Marie's experience also includes drafting and review of tender documentation for both principals and contractors.

Marie advises principals and contractors on disputes, primarily in the Supreme Court, and assists Commonwealth and State government agencies, local government and principals in relation to contract administration and early identification and resolution of contract issues.

She has recently advised on several large transport construction projects and compliance issues and is well-versed on the complexities of the road and rail industries. She has also advised a major transport provider on the drafting, negotiation and finalisation of various tender documents and contracts.

Marie completed a 7 month secondment at a public sector rail operator as a commercial contracts lawyer.

Marie's Recent Experience

Sydney Trains

Advising Sydney Trains on and drafting a long term supply agreement and preparation of related access and licence agreements to ensure ongoing supply of rail to the network by the private sector following the sale of the Bathurst Rail Fabrication Centre.

Sydney Trains

Advising Sydney Trains on amendments to its risk profile to ensure compliance with the NSW Procurement Board Policy Framework and to make the Procurement Documents more acceptable to suppliers, reducing the administration necessary to agree the contracts.

Roads and Maritime Services

Advising RMS on and drafting the statutory framework, government agency collaboration agreement and tripartite interface and access deed in relation to the construction of the Sydney Light Rail.


Acted for RailCorp on the high profile purchase of Australia's first Automatic Train Protection system based on a European Train Control System. This involved tendering, contract negotiation and contract finalisation.

Private Sector Contractor

Acted for a private sector contractor on the review of a supply contract for materials to a major contractor in respect of a NSW freeway development. This role included advising on the appropriate risk allocation taking into account a head contract and the particular circumstances of delivering materials to a roadside work site.
