Greg is the Head of our Tax practice and is a recognised specialist in taxation law, advising clients across a range of industries in relation to income tax, GST, stamp duty and other state taxes.

Greg has particular expertise advising clients in the financial services sector, including managed investment funds, derivative markets, insolvency and restructuring.

He advises public and private companies, investment funds, foreign corporations and banks in respect of the tax implications of mergers and acquisitions, disposals, corporate restructures, property and infrastructure projects, financing and leasing arrangements, international taxation, financing transactions, property and infrastructure projects, managed investment schemes and other collective investment vehicles (CIVs) and tax due diligence as well as the establishment of new businesses in Australia.

Greg has published a number of articles on taxation law issues, particularly on the topic of making Australia a financial services hub, and is a regular speaker at conferences.

Greg's Recent Experience

Transport for New South Wales

Advised on the GST consequences in relation to the implementation of a ticketing revenue strategy under which TfNSW became entitled to public transport revenue in the greater Sydney region, in tandem with the introduction of the electronic ticketing system that is being progressively rolled out by TfNSW across public transport services.

PPB Advisory

As part of the Provident Capital receivership, advising PPB Advisory on the income taxation and GST implications of the sale and realisation of assets held by Provident Capital.

Investment Bank

Advised the Bank on the stamp duty implications of a transaction which involved the acquisition of a substantial residential mortgage loan portfolio.

Ferrier Hodgson

Advised Ferrier Hodgson (receivers and managers) in relation to the sale of 2 power plants located in NSW held by the Sunshine Electricity Joint Venture (SEJV), an unincorporated joint venture.

Assetsecure Pty Limited

Advising Assetsecure (as originator), Recfin (as issuer) and noteholders on a number of trade receivables securitisation programs, with respect to the taxation implications arising from a number of trade debt purchase facilities.
