Henry Davis York's construction and major projects team is widely regarded as one of Australia's largest and strongest, currently acting on some of Australia's most strategic construction and infrastructure projects. In recent years, the team has been involved in over $40 billion worth of major infrastructure, PPP and other construction projects.

Our team has a unique perspective on what it takes to get a deal done - having acted over the years for Commonwealth, State and local governments, as well as consortia, developers, private sector principals, contractors, operators, consultants and financiers. We have acted across a number of industries, including communications, road, rail, water, power, tourism, mining, building and industrial.

Our clients include Airservices Australia, City of Sydney, Department of Defence, Transport for NSW, Roads and Maritime Services, Sydney Trains, Sydney Water, Kane Constructions, Lendlease and Sydney Opera House Trust.

We draw on our expansive industry knowledge and experience to provide the full range of services projects from concept, including initial development proposals, drafting document and administering contracts, to project delivery and the resolution of any issues arising during delivery.

We form part of HDY's Projects Team and work closely with lawyers in other specialists to deliver a holistic service.

Department of Defence

Advising the Department of Defence Capital Facilities and Infrastructure Branch on various major infrastructure projects, including 13 Managing Contractor projects and over 25 major Design Services Contract /Head Contract projects. 

MTR

Acted for MTR and UGL as members of the NRT Consortium, in their successful bid to design, construct, operate, maintain and finance the operations, trains and systems aspects of the $1bn North West Rail Link. Following financial close of the Project, we continue to act for MTR and UGL in the preparation of its subcontract arrangements, employment requirements, rail safety issues and other operational matters.

Sydney Trains

Advising Sydney Trains on amendments to its risk profile to ensure compliance with the NSW Procurement Board Policy Framework and to make the Procurement Documents more acceptable to suppliers, reducing the administration necessary to agree the contracts.

Sydney Trains and RailCorp

Advised Sydney Trains and RailCorp in relation to the sale of the Bathurst Rail Fabrication Centre to VAE Railway Systems, including assisting in preparing the RFP, RFT, business sale agreement, long term supply agreement, land sale documentation and transition services agreement.

Transport for NSW

Advising on the procurement of a new fleet of fast ferries which will start operating in late 2016.
