We take steps to minimise our environmental footprint through continuous improvement programs that reduce energy, resource use and waste disposal. This is our commitment to run an environmentally responsible business.
At Henry Davis York, environmental awareness is a core element of our sustainability strategy. While we are not in the business of operating heavy machinery or producing liquid waste, it doesn't mean that our operations are free of any environmental impact.
As a professional services firm operating out of one Sydney CBD location, we use electricity, paper and water and generate waste which all have an environmental impact.
Through awareness programs, technological innovation and improved building and tenancy automation, we go beyond legal environmental obligations and aim to reduce the use of resources and utilities that 'take' from the environment. To supplement this, we apply carbon offsets to a percentage of our electricity consumption. We offset the total amount carbon produced by our travel and freight operations.
Our people are integral to the delivery of our sustainability commitments. Our intent is communicated and shared by people in the firm at all levels. We also recognise that our supply chain has an environmental impact and we attempt to educate and influence them and source products that take this into consideration.
We understand our responsibilities to the community to disclose our environmental performance. Our aspirations, targets and performance are independently assured in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative's sustainability reporting guidelines and are publically available in our annual sustainability reports.
