Leon specialises in commercial litigation with a particular focus on the financial services sector, trade practices and product liability claims, regulatory investigations and sports law. Leon has represented clients in a range of forums in both Australia and overseas and has acted for a number of banks, professional services firms and large corporate entities.

Leon's focus is on providing innovative and commercial solutions for clients. He has acted for a variety of financial and corporate entities including banks, large financial services providers, product manufacturers and sporting bodies. Leon has particular experience in commencing and defending claims concerning allegations of inappropriate financial advice, misleading and deceptive conduct, cartel conduct, breach of contract and in undertaking regulatory investigations.

Leon has experience in a variety of forums including the Supreme Courts of Victoria and NSW, the Federal Court of Australia, the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the New York Supreme Court. Leon has also participated in a range of mediations and conciliations.

Leon has spent time on secondment at banking institutions in both Lichtenstein and Australia and spent time in-house at a foundation in Switzerland founded by the International Olympic Committee. Leon's experience means he recognises the importance of understanding the commercial framework in which disputes take place and the value in exploring alternative forms of dispute resolution.

Ironside Management Services

Acting for Mr Jeff Ironside and his company, Ironside Management Services Pty Limited. The ACCC has commenced proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia, alleging that Mr Ironside and others, attempted to induce the 25 largest egg producers in Australia into entering into a cartel agreement to reduce the supply of eggs in Australia. The proceedings have generated significant media attention and involve some of the most serious allegations under Australian Consumer Law.

Macquarie Bank

Advising Macquarie Equities Limited in its implementation of a large-scale review of compliance with legal obligations pertaining to the provision of financial advice and defending proceedings instituted by clients as a result.

Nobel Biocare

Acting for Nobel Biocare in defending a product liability claim arising from the sale of dental scanners.

Rugby League Players Association

Acting for the Rugby League Players Association on behalf of a number of players implicated in anti-doping rule violations.
