Alex is the Group Leader of Henry Davis York's Banking, Turnaround and Insolvency Group, which includes the legal teams for Banking & Finance and Restructuring & Insolvency.

Alex specialises in structured capital markets, restructuring and receivables finance. He often uses his structured finance expertise to assist our insolvency and restructuring clients. Alex is recognised by his clients, peers and legal directories as a leader in his field.

Alex has also advised on various aspects of the cross-border insolvency of Lehman Brothers, including advising Perpetual Limited in its proceedings in the English High Court and the Court of Appeal against Lehman Brothers to enforce priority and subordination arrangements in the Lehman $US10billion 'Dante' credit linked note program.

Advised a major international aircraft leasing business on the restructuring and sale of its US$1.2bn aircraft leasing portfolio.

Centuria Capital Limited

Acted for ASX listed Centuria Capital in relation to the sale of a $125m reverse mortgage portfolio.

Ferrier Hodgson

Advised Ferrier Hodgson (receivers and managers) in relation to the sale of 2 power plants located in NSW held by the Sunshine Electricity Joint Venture (SEJV), an unincorporated joint venture.

Morgan Stanley Real Estate

Acted for a global real estate special situations fund in respect of its acquisition of 2 large portfolios of non-performing real estate loans from the Lloyds Banking Group backed by security over residential, commercial and retail developments across the eastern seaboard of Australia. With a face value in excess of A$1.5bn, these were at the time the largest ever non-performing portfolio sales undertaken by any financial institution in Australia.
