Sharon is the managing partner of Henry Davis York, having commenced in that role on 1 July 2008.

As managing partner Sharon is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction and overall management of the firm's business to ensure the short and long term success of the firm. Sharon aligns these responsibilities with the culture and values that define Henry Davis York.

Sharon leads a team of practice group leaders and corporate services directors (director of people & development, chief operating officer, director of legal resources, director of business development and chief financial officer).

During her time as managing partner, Sharon has set a clear vision and strategy for the firm. Our vision at Henry Davis York is to be famous for our expertise as well as our relationships. Sharon has driven the pursuit of excellence in our chosen areas of expertise.

Before her election as managing partner, Sharon was an insurance specialist with particular expertise in professional indemnity insurance law, directors and officers liabilities, corporate governance and building and construction litigation.

Sharon was listed as a Leading Individual in Insurance by the Asia Pacific Legal 500 2007/2008. She was named one of the World's Leading Insurance and Reinsurance lawyers in the Legal Media Group Guide and has been featured as one of Australia's "Best Lawyers" in the Australian Financial Review.

Sharon has a longstanding personal interest and passion for corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the role companies have to play in taking account of, and responsibility for, their impact on society and the environment. She has presented seminars and advised clients on CSR and has been a strong supporter of Henry Davis York's initiatives in this area.

During her working life, Sharon has been a champion for women in the workforce and for family-friendly, flexible work practices. She was the first female to be specifically appointed as a part-time partner by a major Australian law firm.
