Rebecca is an expert in insurance litigation and has over 23 years' experience advising a wide range of clients including major Australian general and life insurers.
Rebecca's breadth of expertise covers professional indemnity, directors' and officers' liability, life and disability insurance, public and product liability, industrial special risks, business interruption and reinsurance.
Rebecca regularly acts for professionals and directors in a wide variety of claims for negligence and breach of directors' duties. She has also acted to defend directors subject to ASIC civil penalty suits.
She advises general insurers in relation to property and personal injury claims as well as insurers on remedies for non-disclosure and misrepresentation, suspected arson and fraud. Rebecca also advises on issues relating to coverage, policy wording, product development and industry regulation. She is frequently involved in insurance due diligence and risk solutions for major projects and transactions.
Rebecca represents a number of Australia's major life insurers. Her most recent success was in the Supreme Court in Manglicmot v The Commonwealth Bank Officers Superannuation Corporation Limited, involving group life insurance and an examination of the duties owed by a trustee of a superannuation fund to its members when entering into a new policy of life insurance.
She also acts for a number of the firm's significant government, corporate and banking clients in relation to a wide range of commercial litigation. As a result, Rebecca has a depth of expertise in mining and construction litigation, defamation and intentional torts.
