Michael has practised as a disputes resolution lawyer for 22 years and heads Henry Davis York's Commercial Disputes Group and Public Sector Group.

He acts for public and private sector clients advising them on disputes concerning contracts, tendering and procurement, fraud, freight and shipping, intellectual property, directors and shareholders, corporate governance, administrative law, statutory duties and interpretation, road transport law, regulation and enforcement and issues concerning privilege and confidentiality. Michael specialises in advising public sector clients on external inquiries including several significant ICAC inquiries, a judicial inquiry, WorkCover investigations and a number of coronial inquests.

Clients Michael advises in the public sector include the NSW Department of Services and Technology, NSW Police Force, Public Transport Ticketing Corporation, Rail Corporation NSW, NSW Roads and Traffic Authority, NSW Health and Sydney Ports Corporation.

In the private sector, Michael advises clients in their dealings with corporate regulators such as ASIC and the ACCC, and in substantial contractual disputes, often involving multiple parties and complex project documentation, and trade practices matters.

Michael's private sector clients include Canon, Panasonic, Steggles and Baiada Poultry, Macquarie Bank, Westpac, Teachers Federation Health, Korda Mentha and KPMG.

His experience covers all state and federal jurisdictions and includes regularly representing clients at mediations.
