Liz is a specialist corporate and commercial legal adviser to clients within the funds management industry and leads Henry Davis York's Financial Services Group. Liz advises both on-shore and off-shore fund managers, institutional and boutique, on matters such as new business establishment and structuring; funds management M&A and joint venture arrangements; product structuring and distribution (including in relation to equities schemes, property trusts and alternative investments) and on day-to-day matters impacting their businesses.
Recent matters Liz has been involved in include:
- advising ING Real Estate B.V. on its phased withdrawal from its Australian property funds management platform including its management of 5 ASX-listed real estate investment trusts with in excess of A$7.2 billion in assets under management;
- advising a financial services client on the disposal of part of its funds management business, including 2 widely held Australian equities funds with in excess of A$1.2 billion in funds under management;
- advising Ascalon Capital Managers on incubator acquisitions of strategic stakes in boutique fund managers, including hedge fund managers and other alternative fund managers;
- advising on the establishment and structuring of a new distressed asset funds management business and the underlying fund structures;
- advising on incentive scheme structuring for retaining key funds management personnel.
Liz is a regular speaker at conferences in Australia and overseas on regulatory issues impacting the Australian funds management industry.
