As a long-term supporter of Bowel Cancer Australia, Henry Davis York (HDY) has gone all out in our efforts for Blue September - from foyers to Fridays, it's all about being blue for a good cause.
Chairman of the HDY Partners, Mr Philip Crawford said that when the firm supported a cause, they got behind it in a big way.
"We choose charities and causes we have a strong belief in and then we look at a range of ways in which we can help. That's typically more than just fundraising - it's about having some fun and getting some serious messages out to our employees too," he added.
Blue September is a great example of HDY's approach to supporting a cause.
The lights are now blue in our Martin Place office foyer, Friday drinks will involve something of a blue variety, there will be a bake off and a wear something blue to work day too.
"We have more than 400 employees and we aim to get them all involved. Blue September is about raising awareness of cancers that affect men and getting the whole office involved helps to increase that awareness," said Mr Crawford.
Julien Wiggins, chief executive officer, Bowel Cancer Australia said it was interesting to see the creative ways in which individuals and companies are lending their support to Blue September.
"I think it's great when companies look at different ways to support a cause that involves everyone. For conditions like bowel cancer, where half the battle is getting people to talk about it, we want people to ask why the foyer's blue or why blue drinks have turned up on Friday," he added.
"Getting people, especially men, to talk about cancers that affect them is invaluable because it may just make someone take action - get a screening test, find out about their family history - and that could save a life," said Mr Wiggins.
