We are committed to the ongoing professional development of staff through programs tailored to build excellent technical, management and business development skills, appropriate to each person's experience level.

Our programs include:

Junior lawyer development program

Designed for lawyers in their first rotation, this program focuses on the practical skills required for our lawyers to make the transition from law school to legal practice.

Professional development program

This program is divided into peer levels from summer clerk to partner, and provides our lawyers with the opportunity to continually develop the necessary skills to support their technical expertise.

Professional development program for admin and support staff

This program provides secretarial and administrative staff at Henry Davis York with an opportunity to attend skills development sessions.

The sessions include:

Practice group continuing professional development

Each practice group delivers a comprehensive series of workshops and sessions focused on technical skills, current awareness and procedures specific to the practice area.

Continuing development

In addition to the formal programs, we provide the opportunity for continuing development through:

  • financial support for further study
  • peer networking opportunities such as lunches for our special counsel/senior associate group
  • practice group retreats, which provide the opportunity for team building as well as development activities
  • on the job mentoring and feedback
  • client secondments.
