Robert Neely

Robert is a technology and regulatory lawyer with over 20 years' specialist experience.

He advises suppliers and users in relation to IT procurement and outsourcing, telecommunications regulation and access arrangements, ecommerce, transmission, capacity and on-line content agreements, technology commercialisation and supply.

Robert is also an experienced competition lawyer. His work in this area includes advising on mergers, restrictive trade practices, infrastructure access and competition policy initiatives.

Robert has acted for some of Australia's largest companies including for a national telecommunications company on the five year outsourcing of its information technology infrastructure and the establishment of its interactive pay TV platform. He has also acted for major IT services and consultancy companies on the implementation of an on-line banking platform with a leading bank and the outsourcing of logistics and IT functions from other financial institutions, for various telecommunications service providers in negotiating network access and peering arrangements and for the acquirer of long-term exclusive use rights to a national fibre optic cable network.

Robert is a member of the Law Council of Australia E-commerce Committee and maintains memberships in industry and legal associations including ITechLaw, CAMLA and the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association.

Robert is identified as a leading IT and telecommunications lawyer in various practitioner guides including Guide to the World's Leading Technology, Media and Technology Lawyers, 3rd Ed (published by the Legal Media Group) and in the latest edition of the ALB Legal Who's Who Australia. Robert is also listed as a "Recommended Individual" in PLC Which Lawyer? 2008 for IT and e-commerce.
