Jason Opperman

Jason is an expert in banking dispute resolution, insolvency and restructuring and fraud prevention and recovery.

He acts for banks, financial services institutions and corporations in the areas of secured and unsecured debt recovery, including receiverships, the enforcement of real property mortgages, guarantees and other securities, workouts, enforcement of rural securities and farm debt mediation, banker and customer disputes, cheque disputes and fraud.

Jason has extensive experience in the enforcement of leasing, rental, vendor finance and other equipment finance arrangements including factoring and invoice discounting-related litigation. He also acts for insolvency administrators and trustees, creditors and directors in relation to corporate and personal insolvencies, including liquidations, voluntary administrations and bankruptcy.

He recently acted for a major bank in relation to the receivership, administration and liquidation of various franchises in the food and hospitality industry, for a finance company with significant vendor finance exposure to a supplier of high-end reproduction equipment, for a bank and its appointed receiver to recover a multi-million dollar exposure to a licensed club, for a court-appointed liquidator of an unregistered managed investment scheme, advising on the recovery of significant investor funds, and for the directors of a "brand name" company in relation to the successful implementation of a deed of company arrangement.
