Geoffrey Hilton
Geoffrey advises corporate clients at a senior management level and works with chief executives in Australia and overseas.
His practice covers mergers and acquisitions, the Corporations Act, business and commercial law, intellectual property law, contract law and competition law and he has represented a variety of blue chip clients in major commercial projects.
Significant transactions Geoffrey has been involved in include initial public offerings, the development and launch of new business initiatives, media joint ventures, tax-leveraged technology syndications, oil industry alliances and major foreign investments in Australia as well as corporate restructurings, acquisitions and disposals.
Geoffrey is a member of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the International Bar Association and the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association. He is also an experienced non-executive director or chairman of companies operating in the financial services sector.
For 2005 Geoffrey was elected as Vice-President of Globalaw, a worldwide network of more than 85 independent law firms in 65 jurisdictions, representing over 4000 lawyers. He served as the Chair of its Membership and Nominating Committee in 2005, as the President of Globalaw in 2006 and continues as a member of the board of directors.
