Liz Gray

Liz specialises in funds management, financial services and corporate law.

She advises on:

  • new business establishment and structuring;
  • new product development for funds managers (including equities schemes, property trusts, alternative investment schemes, hedge funds and cash management trusts);
  • funds management business acquisitions;
  • structured property trust acquisitions;
  • documentation for managed funds;
  • wholesale and retail product disclosure, distribution and marketing;
  • financial services law compliance; and
  • general corporations law issues impacting on the operations of both listed and unlisted funds management businesses.

Recent transactions Liz has been involved in include:

  • the establishment and offering of capital guaranteed off-shore alternative investment vehicles to Australian and New Zealand retail investors raising in excess of AUD$1.6 billion;
  • advising a leading international property funds management group on the structure and establishment of a property development and investment joint venture with an estimated end value of over AUD$1 billion;
  • advising a fund manager in relation to a proposed wind-up of a listed investment company by an aggrieved shareholder group; and
  • advising on incentive scheme structuring for retaining key funds management personnel.

Liz is the leader of HDY's financial services team and is a member of the Investment and Financial Services Association's Global Markets Working Group.
