Matt McMillan

 

 



Matthew has 12 years' experience as a commercial lawyer, specialising in technology and communications, e-commerce and intellectual property. He has practised in both New South Wales and the United Kingdom.

Matthew has extensive experience advising both suppliers and customers on large-scale outsourcing and managed services initiatives, technology infrastructure projects (including the deployment and upgrade of IT and networked systems)and ICT and business process procurement arrangements. He also advises on technology commercialisation, licensing and distribution projects and e-commerce ventures. His clients span a wide range of industries including IT, communications, financial services, government and transport and infrastructure.

Matthew has acted for a number of major Australian banks, including recently advising on the procurement of a web-based solution to enable transaction processing services for a bank's wealth management products and advising on its acquisition of a full range of media services. Matthew also advised one of the big four Australian banks in relation to the deployment of a bookings and settlements trading platform.

Matthew's recent experience also includes advising Sydney Airport on a number of significant IT and combined IT and infrastructure projects, including the deployment of a self-service check-in facility and an upgrade of the airport’s control and monitoring system for aeronautical ground lighting. He also recently advised MasterCard in relation to a new independent payment processing business, including arrangements for the provision of wholesale switching and acquiring services

He was also recently called upon to advise the receivers of Commander Communications on a range of telecommunications issues arising out of the receivership, including re-negotiating a number of major IT services agreements with the Federal Government and re-negotiating wholesale telecommunications agreements with carriers.

Matthew was recognised for "working tirelessly at keeping clients informed about the latest developments" by Australasian Legal Business' Guide to Technology, Media and Telecommunications 2009.
